Ocular Coherence Tomography (OCT)
The Zeiss OCT (Ocular Coherence Tomography) is a highly sophisticated image technology used to aid in depth diagnosis of macula and optic nerve disease.
An OCT can be compared to an ultrasound of the back of the eye which produces 3D images with multiple scans in 5 seconds.
An OCT will be required if any of the following conditions are present within an eye exam:
– Macular defects
– Glaucoma risk
– Floaters
– Retinopathy including diabetes
– Optic nerve disease
